Principle:
The vacuum rake dryer is an innovative horizontal batch vacuum drying system. It operates by evaporating the wet material through conduction, where a scraper agitator continuously cleans and moves the material along the heated surface, creating a circulating flow. The evaporated moisture is then extracted by a vacuum pump. This dryer is extensively utilized in the chemical industry for drying organic semi-finished products and fuels.
The steam jacket in the vacuum rake dryer indirectly heats the material and expels gases under high vacuum conditions. This makes it especially ideal for drying materials that are heat-sensitive, easily oxidized at high temperatures, likely to form powders during drying, or require solvent recovery. The dryer can handle materials with moisture or solvent content as high as 90% and as low as 15%, processing slurries, pastes, granules, powders, or fibrous materials. Post-drying, the moisture content can be reduced to as low as 0.1% or even 0.05%.
Materials to be dried are introduced from the top center of the shell. Under the continuous agitation of rotating harrow teeth, the material makes contact with the shell wall, renewing its surface consistently. This indirect heating by steam facilitates moisture vaporization, with the vapor being promptly evacuated by a vacuum pump. The machine can simultaneously heat the interlayer and the harrow teeth. Due to the higher operating vacuum, the vapor pressure difference between the material surface and the evaporating space inside the dryer significantly aids in the efficient removal of moisture, thereby enhancing the drying process.
